About Us
We are a friendly choral society of about 50 members. We meet
weekly in term time and rehearse for three concerts a year.
The choir mostly draws its members from the Bishops
Cleeve/Woodmancote area to the north of Cheltenham, England.
Rehearsals
Rehearsals are held on Tuesdays at 7.30pm at Bishops Cleeve
Primary School (see maps) and take two hours, including a tea break.
Concerts
We usually perform in three concerts each year. Most
of our concerts are held in Bishops Cleeve but we also
perform in other venues, including overseas. We have
performed in Hungary, Tuscany and the Salzburg area of
Austria.
Musical Director
Alastair Cameron began his musical training at an early age
as a church chorister and studying Piano and Clarinet. He went
on to study music at Oxford Brookes where he began conducting.
After graduating Alastair started the London Contemporary Music
Group and now continues to work as a conductor and as a
composer of both concert works and music for Film and TV
alongside teaching and performing.
Accompanist
Helen McNaught trained as a musician gaining a BA (Hons) and
followed this with a one year Post Graduate Teaching course.
She was Head of Music in a large Comprehensive in Somerset for
11 years where she directed 2 choirs and the orchestra as well
as helping with plays and musicals. She was also fully involved
in the Community and was Musical Director for 2 Community

Our friends
There are many ways of being a friend of Cleeve Chorale!
Our History
Cleeve Chorale can trace its origins back to the Bishops
Cleeve Choral and Dramatic Society which was founded in the
early 1930s. The society originated from a small group of
singers who met in Bishops Cleeve Rectory in the 1920s.
